Glad I went for a large as it's fine around the chest and if anything a few inches too long. The extra large would have been much too large The outer material of the coat is what I'd describe as canvas like, the inner is just a polyester shell. Theirs's no insulating material so definitely not a jacket for colder days unless your wearing a jumper. Great for the warmer half of the year. I went for the version with 4 button down pockets on the front, I wasn't sure whether it also had side pockets for your hands (it does). Although slightly on the tight side depending on what's in the main pockets.So a total of 6 pockets on the front, 2 small ones on the arms and 1 on the inside of the jacket for a phone etc. so plenty of pockets for all your bits.
