I need to take one off and put it on another plate. No experience with attempting removal, but if I'm worried about it it would be easy to trim off the metal hanger loop and leave the flat disc on the back of the item. Three seconds, rubbing in circles is just about perfect. Then put it on the back of your plate, applying pressure while it dries. Would I recommend these to fragile, breakable antique plates? Probably not. I used these on my light as a feather, Alice in Wonderland plastic plates and it made hanging easy and fast. While they are very small, it doesn't matter as long as you have the hanger you need sticking and staying. These worked great for my needs.
