Review: Excellent Brew Kettle, Induction Capable - I ordered this after a long search online for a well priced BIAB vessel that I could use with my 3500w induction burner. This kettle is NOT listed as induction capable, however in home brewing forums there are others who have ordered this kettle and had successful results, so I decided to give it a try. The kettle is NOT magnetic, however it works wonderfully with my induction burner. The ball valve (like others have said) had some oil/residue on it from the factory, but I cleaned it, boiled it, and after a PBW soak it had no residue or smell. I passivated the kettle and hooked up the ball valve easily thanks to the included set of tools. My first batch went very well. The included basket is excellent for BIAB, I just put my bag in there and the metal handle helps make lifting the heavy grains out after mashing (will be even better once I hook up a pulley system.) I plan to take great care of this vessel but if I ever do need to replace it, Bayou Classic will be where I look.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Is this pot induction-ready?**
A: I don’t know about THIS one but some Bayou Classics are induction ready so I suggest you compare — I have one I use for home brewing beer, an 8 gall with valve and thermometer. It was described as having a tri-clad bottom.  I’ve brewed with it 5x now on my induction burner and it works very well.

**Q: If I wanted to add a regular downturned spout to this, has anyone seen such an item?**
A: I don’t think it would be an issue as the spout is mounted with a threaded nut on the inside of the pot

**Q: can i deep fry in this as well as boil?**
A: yes, it is designed as a turkey fryer and should have no problems for deep frying.  The valve on the bottom is nice for draining oil

**Q: How is the lid vented?**
A: Yes, there is one small vent hole about 1/16" in diameter in the lid.

I have used it a few times since purchasing and it serves it's purpose well. The large size was perfect for frying a large turkey and the basket fits enough food for a good sized boil. Food came out great and clean up is simple. The addition of the spout really makes it easy. Very sturdy/durable, quality product.
