This cam really surprised me with its night vision and optical zoom. Most cameras look good in the daylight, but this one look really good at night, even when zoomed in at 30x in the dark.They are expensive, but I have 10x optical Acti digital cameras at work that don't look nearly as good and they cost 4 times as much.The PTZ functions as expected. 320 degrees turn from left to right and about 135 degrees up and down.The software that comes with them is clunky, but it works. I recommend Blue Iris as the NVR, more configuration options and easier to set up. ### ⭐ Old cameras requiring Internet Explorer... *by N***J on May 14, 2024* This review is for Alptop Outdoor 5MP PTZ IP POE Security Cameras, model AT-500PE purchased from LiXun Security. First and foremost, these PTZ cameras ARE NOT DHCP discoverable upon connection to network. This camera requires Internet Exporer and software download for its initional DHCP discovery configuration as well as necessity for the download of "additional" software for final setup.These cameras are OLD OLD cameras. Who's still using Internet Explorer these days?? I had to dig an old computer out of retirement that had Win7 installed as well an old Linksys router, configure for 192.168.1.1 addressing in order to discover IP address of 192.168.1.117 which camera was on by default. This is such OLD technology these days. Sale blurb states "It works perfectly with HIK VISION NVR. The 3rd party supported list includes: Blue Iris, iSpy, Security Spy, XProtect, VLC and so on. I have VLC and "so on"... as in Ubuntu Linux! After a week of messing, I finally managed to get it operational and configured into my Ubuntu Zoneminder v3.36 software only to discover that in less than 24hrs it didn't make it through the night before it failed. After a week of tinkering, discovered camera has a notorious "stuck IRCut shutter" issue that plagues these similar cameras where night vision is compromised. This first configured camera is no exception, night vision is a total failure. I paid $179ea for these two cameras. I was excited to finally find an affordable, capable IP PTZ camera to add to my Zoneminder camera system. Unfortunately, I NEGLECTED to read the reviews posted about these cameras. A fool and his money is soon parted!If you NEGLECT to read all the reviews on these Alptop AT-500PE cameras, new OR used... you require DAY TIME access ONLY. You've been informed!!May 28, 2024I finally pulled the second camera from shipping box. Upon connecting data cable, head began to rotate and immediately noted lens was loose and flopping inside enclosure. Removing small rear inspection cover, found circuit board was not attached to frame. Then noted broken screw hole and upon further inspection, found a missing mount screw. CLEARLY... this camera had been opened up and messed with. Included photos show sad condition of this particular Alptop AT-500PE camera. I will include Specs on this second camera if I ever manage to get it functional.
