Simple, I was opening and closing it with each use per the instructions. But, I soon kinda realized that the results were the same with or without the product; if I put one in one of my shoes and let it rest over the weekend, they smelled the same by Monday. So, I feel like it's more masking the odor. It does a decent job of that.However, today, I was frustrated as I removed them from my shoes, attempted to close them, and one of them broke. The blue side split in two; the pressure from turning to close it broke the glue connection. Little brownish beads went everywhere and there was a moth-ball like thing hidden in one end. Because it's the glue that broke, I'd have to glue it back together. I just decided that it wasn't really worth the effort and tossed them both.Recommended if you want something to mask the odor because it's just that bad, but be wary of the durability. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ They Work! *by D***T on October 16, 2016* I've been using these for several months now and they work!
