I’ve now been using it daily for seven weeks and I have no complaints, only praise. The first thing I noticed when I took it out of the box is how surprisingly solid and heavy duty this grinder feels, like a very well made tool. The second thing I appreciated is how smooth the grinding is; it’s really a pleasure to use, and I especially appreciate the large wooden grinding knob which is the perfect size and shape to hold. Thirdly, I have found the grind to be consistently uniform from fine to coarse, with coarse being my preferred setting for French press coffee. Finally, to respond to a couple negative reviews, which initially concerned me: One reviewer commented that this grinder is “designed to fail” because a screw came loose and fell off from their grinder and was lost; in response, I was very happy to find that my grinder was shipped with two spare screws, and I have also had no issue with any screw becoming loose on my grinder in seven weeks of daily use. Another reviewer was very displeased because the wooden knob and/or the top of the grinder can pull off unexpectedly while grinding; this could possibly happen because the wooden knob is held on by a magnet and the top is held on by its secure fit and friction only, however, the solution to prevent the knob and/or top from coming off while grinding is simply to lightly press your hands together, rather than pulling your hands apart while grinding. I’m also glad there is no unnecessary screw fastener on top, which would only slow down the time it takes to make a perfect cup of coffee. And so there it is, the perfect coffee grinder! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars Almost great *by W***G on Reviewed in the United States on August 2, 2020* I've waffled back and forth on if this is a near 5 star grinder or a near 3 star grinder.Pros:- quality materials going by heft, feel, and how securely the bottom reservoir screws on..much higher quality than my Hario hand grinder I had before- very easy to adjust grind size between the 20 grind settings (which if you simply hold the bottom reservoir with your thumb and fingers on the knurled middle soft part like you are supposed there isn't a way of changing the grind setting during grinding like some other reviewer said...not sure why they had a problem unless they were trying to grind w/o the bottom reservoir attached)- included accessories (bag, brush) work quite well, though don't match the fit and finish of the actual grinder- attractive design- my grind results are more even than the photos shown by the seller, but maybe their photo is just zoomed in moreNegatives:- The biggest negative is the manual indicated to not take this apart. How do you thoroughly clean the burrs if you can't take it apart? The included brush works OK, but I've always heard you want to keep your grinder very clean. This is the reason I deducted a star from the grinder.- The manual / coffee grind suggestions are obviously translated from another language into English, and not very well. It is understandable, but the broken sentences made me wonder at first if you made a mistake buying this grinder.Notes:- I initially started out at a 10 figuring that'd be medium on a 20 notch grinder. It was really fine...I guess I should have noticed their photo more. For a medium/medium fine setting I've settled on a 14- Filling up the hopper with beans and grinding is yielding about 28 grams of ground beans. I need 44 for my 5 cup brewer so do rougly 1.5 hoppers- At a setting of 14-16 this grinds a hopper in 30 seconds or so...I didn't time it but tried to count. At a 10 though I was literally grinding for over 5 minutes as I had to pause in order to restOverall I'm pretty satisfied with this purchase. Went to purchase another to have at my office when I saw this new version and decided to try it as well.I've actually been through a number of burr grinders over the years, both manual and electric. Until now, the smaller version offered here has been my favorite. This version is larger both in dimensions and capacity - just slightly below double for both. It uses the same excellent burr and grinding ring set as the smaller version - so it is fast and precise.The new feature of this model is the external adjustment ring. The top section (smooth section above the grooved middle section) turns in evenly spaced, indexed, increments to adjust the size of the grind. You must hold the grooved section and below while grinding or else you will change the grind size selection.The indicator ring is marked with clearly visible numbers indented into the sides of the ring from 0 to 20. On my example the ring will spin one place below 0 back to 20 which locks the burr into the grinding ring (hence, it is fully closed). At the other end of adjustment the ring will move five places above 20, going past from 0 through 4.Since the adjustments move the burr from fully closed to open in small increments, this grinder tends to only be good for up to a medium French Press grind at it's largest opening. It is too fine for a Cold Brew grind. I'm fine with that as I only use Moka Pot, AeroPress, Pour Over, and occasional Turkish Brew methods.On adjustments, 5 is an extremely fine talc like powder. 10 is a fine Expresso grind. 16/17 are great for the AeroPress.Some things to note:The smaller version has a brass 'anti-static' ring, which I thought was a marketing gimmick. Apparently not! This one does not and imparts a noticable static charge to the grinds. Nothing horrible, but it does make more of a mess.Another thing. The smaller version can be disassembled for cleaning without tools. This one requires a small hex key (Allen Wrench - not included) to remove the burr for the same level of disassembly. Not horrible, but something to know ahead of time.Overall, this is a finely crafted, well assembled grinder that quickly and consistently grinds coffee beans equal or better than several units costing hundreds of dollars. It is easy to use and adjust.
