These are larger than the original plastic McDonaldsstraws, which were for thick milk shakes. The size means one gets a large gush of fluid, which as the glass is so rigid, is not easy to control. Enjoyment of the drink .. even water or milk .. is lessened because this fast gush needs fasterswallowing. These, therefore aren't suitable for children or anyone wanting to savour a drink.
