I have/had a major aphid problem. It's already decreased a huge amount. When i said I had a bad aphid problem... the aphids were so bad they were all over all my plants in amounts like when you piss of a fire ant hill. Literally. Its already decreased by many half. I've opened my whole bag but in a mesh butterfly cage Amazon sells. They were all very thirsty. I'll be supplementing food in the mesh cage like it says above.... honey mixed with water. My fridge is kept at a colder temp then what they can be in so that wasn't an option for me. I have grow lights and even put a potted tulip in there. They love it and those aphids are now gone too :) **Q: My tall oak tree is infested with aphids. Do I release these lady bugs on the lower trunk in the tree? These little ones did the job in about three days and saved my plant! I put about 30 of them on the plant, adding about an extra 10 per day. To water, use a spritzer water bottle and a damp paper towel. They love a bit of honey on a paper towel changed daily, as well as raisins soaked in water - also changed daily. I put the rest of the gang in a mesh pop up tent with food, water and an egg carton as shelter and they have been doing great. Plan to release them outdoors as soon as the weather warms up a bit more as I’m in a mountainous area. Also, a super easy way to pick them up and move them is to use a small, clean paint brush. They grab onto it easily and it’s simple to move them from the tent to the plant as needed. This is soooooo much better and easier than pesticide. They hoovered up every aphid like little champs. They also arrived quickly and in good condition. Very few were dead. The others were very active and ready to get to work.
