**Q: Is this also a writer to chip??**
A: This is a reader/writer.

**Q: Does this card reader work with a VA PIV card?**
A: Yes it does! Works great if you're going to use it for remote work.

**Q: Is this omnikey 3121 version 1, version 2 or version 3?  version 3 does not work with the c2 rower i have**
A: Please see the information at https://www.concept2.com/service/software/concept2-utility/card-reader-overview-and-requirements 
Only Versions 1 and 2 work with the concept2 utility program. I suggest you return to the supplier and swap it with version 1 or 2.

**Q: If you have an hid prox card will this work with that**
A: I don't anything about a hid prox card.  This works with a smart-card.

Very good product, much better than other smart card readers. Can require some effort to set up on some Linux distributions. Overall I can definitely recommend this product. The physical design of the product is also well made and will probably last a lot longer than other readers I've bought from other manufacturers. This product can also read full sized SIM cards for e.g. research purposes.
