I could see each crabgrass plant, so I did not need any dye to see what I was spraying. 3 days later, crabgrass is dying, lawn grass is untouched and a week later the crabgrass plants rot! No need to pull them up or disturb the other grasses. Mixed with the recommended oil so it clings in to the crab grass blades and I don’t think a single crab grass weed survived my single one time application. I initially tried the hose mounted spectracide brand treatment and it did not work at all. This stuff however DOES work. Now that all the crabgrass is dead and brown as a paper bag, I have applied new grass seed now that it’s cool in the fall. And then the key next year will be to apply the crab grass preventer at the exact right soil temperature so that the crab grass seeds don’t germinate. I never applied a preventer before and have always been chasing after the fact.
