## Questions & Answers

**Q: Is this Samsung product free of fire/explosions?**
A: ARE YOU KIDDING!!! I have seen some really awesome fires and explosions on this screen!! It reproduces the UHD video so well you feel like you're right there in the middle of it all! (Using TWO of these!)
As for the monitor itself, not even a hiccup! With TWO, it;s double the treat and the main reason I don't have a VR headset. It is pretty impressive playing most games at 2K (2560x1440) as most games do NOT run so well at 4K! I play Black Desert Online, World of Warcraft, and Elite Dangerous (Among others) and BDO and ED are fantastic on this monitor. Not to mention how well Windows 10 Pro works with these.

**Q: Hi. does the u28e590d come with an hdmi 2.0 cable?**
A: It comes with a both an HDMI cable and a DP cable, however it doesn't say if its HDMI 2.0 or not. I ended up buying a longer cable as it was only 6-8 feet long.On the back of the monitor there are TWO HDMI connectors, HDMI 1 is for a HDMI 1.4 cable (4k @ 30Hz) HDMI 2 is for a HDMI 2.0 cable (4k @ 60Hz), so make sure you use the correct plug based on the cable.

**Q: What kind of cable does one use to connect this at full resolution to a newer model Macbook Pro?**
A: If by "newer", you mean either a mid-2014 or mid-2015 models with the retina display, you need to use the mini-displayport (really Thunderbolt, Apple's name) cable. You will get the full 3840X2160 video at 60Hz. If you use the HDMI port of your MBP (15" only), here are the resolutions you can get:Support for 1080p resolution at up to 60HzSupport for 3840-by-2160 resolution at 30HzSupport for 4096-by-2160 resolution at 24Hz

**Q: Can i use this as my xbox one monitor?**
A: Yes, you can. I use it with my Xbox Series X and it displays perfectly in 4K/60fps when plugged into HDMI 2 port. (Note: Both the HDMI 2 and DisplayPort can display 4K/60fps, but not HDMI 1)

## Customer Reviews

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Awesome HiDPI display for a very affordable price
*by on Reviewed in the United States September 1, 2016*

I ordered seven of these and plugged them into a Mac Pro (2013) with a pair of GTX960 graphics cards. I actually ordered enough of these that Amazon assumed I was doing business ordering for IT (laughs). But I can say that I am quite happy with them. The monitors are bright, and the resolution is crisp. I am not a color freak, but the colors look very good to my untrained eye. What I got these for was the HiDPI text rendering, and for that it delivers in spades. I was able to mount these on NavePoint NavePoint Dual Vertical LCD Monitor Mount Stand Free Standing Holds 2 Stacked Screens Up To 24-Inches and NavePoint Triple LCD Monitor Desk Stand/Mount Free Standing Vertical 3 Screens up to 27-Inches Black monitor stands without issue, and ended up with an array of screens to do my programming work on that are both spacious and easy on the eyes. Depending on viewing distance, I recommend running the displays "Scaled" and at 2560x1440 under MacOS [note that MacOS does HiDPI by using a fake "lower" resolution, and smoothing it back up to the native resolution, so this isn't "wasting" the UHD, it's setting how much the UI is scaled. The "best for display" default will do 1920x1080 smoothed out using the extra pixels.]A couple of quibbles:1) the VESA mount is at the very top of the display. This didn't cause me any grief (and I knew about it when I ordered), but it would be annoying if I didn't have a homogenous setup.2) One of the monitors detected as being a 6400x3600 102" display when plugged into the HDMI 2.0 port. I have not played with it enough to know if that is a monitor problem or a MacOS problem, but I am currently running that one at 30Hz on the HDMI 1.4 port because of it. When I have a chance I will try switching cables around to see if it's the monitor (this one happens to be where I put windows to view but not interact with, so 30Hz isn't annoying me).

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ You Should Probably Buy This

The Origin Story: I'm a mid-twenty-something with computing proclivities including (but not limited to) video editing, music production, PC gaming, Unity/Unreal game development, and media streaming. Despite my compulsion to work from home even when I'm off the clock, I seem to always lean on the 'broke' side. If you fit any of these descriptors, this monitor is absolutely FOR YOU. I purchased one Used-Like New via Amazon Warehouse for $235, and another New at Best Buy for $250 over Black Friday weekend. Now, every time I enter my nerd den at home, I feel as fancy as a posh poodle in pearls. The Pros:- Stellar. Graphics.- Superior. Connectivity.- Sleek. Design.- Simple. Usability. As most other 24-year-old white girls would say, "I can't even right now." It's so great. I play mainly RPG games like The Witcher, Mass Effect, Assassin's Creed, etc., and this monitor pulls you into those magnificent worlds. The color fidelity and the greyscale seem spectacular, whether on Steam or Netflix. I am not a serious online FPS gamer, so I can't tell you just how perfect this monitor is for attaining otherworldly kill streaks in a high-intensity CS:GO or Overwatch death match, but I can tell you this monitor's refresh rate is a dramatic upgrade from the 2011 Samsung monitor I had been using. The product's design and user-friendliness are very intuitive; I was ready to go after about 10 minutes assembly and set-up. There is a small 'knob' (joystick? fiddlestick? I'm not sure of the technical term) on the back right side that is maneuvered and pressed to go through the various menus. Maybe it's just easy because I took out thousands of dollars of loans to achieve a satisfactory college education. Maybe I'm just projecting. I'm sure it will be easy for you, too, with or without the student loans. The Cons:- Brightness, I guess.- Limited maneuverability, I suppose. It isn't very easy to adjust this monitor; you can't move it vertically up or down, the tilt angles cannot go too extreme. The colors seemed a bit washed out when I first turned it on, which I easily adjusted via the brightness and contrast menus. Honestly, my biggest complaint is that occasionally non-4K images and programs look a bit pixelated, but that is a problem I can live with given the trade-offs.Final Opinion:If you are multitasker who needs the screen space, buy this. If you are gamer anywhere between casual and advanced who wants a more immersive experience, buy this. If you want to impress friends with pictures of your "crazy-cool set-up," buy this. If you are a broke twenty-something who wants a monitor that screams "Does not regularly eat ramen to avoid buying groceries," buy this.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ The wonderful world of ultra hi-def. Good luck getting there.
*by on Reviewed in the United States December 27, 2015*

About a year ago, I bought a Lumix GH4 that shoots 4k video. While 4k taking over the world is years away, I wanted a monitor that could handle my files. I also wanted a desktop monitor to replace my aging Mac. I'm an editor - an OLD editor, so if my critiques sound like those of an old guy bringing up the rear of the technological revolution, you'd be correct. First of all - I knew that using an older Mac Pro was going to need some hot-rodding to make it fast enough to handle the files. What I didn't know was how mind-bogglingly confusing the internet was going to be just figuring out what that would entail. In a nutshell - after buying a high performance video card (a domain owned by gamers whose techno-speak made my eyes glaze over,) many more gigs of ram and upgrading to the latest mac operating system, buying this monitor was the easiest, least expensive component of the saga. All that said:The road to "plug and play" didn't end there. First of all - the manual that came in my box is entirely in Asian/Indonesian as were the on-screen settings. I'd gladly have changed the menu to English if I read Korean to find the selection. Which brings up another point - no remote control? Seriously? A $500 appliance & they couldn't toss in a 35 cent remote? To adjust the set, you use a small toggle wheel on the back of the chassis. Welcome to the 20th century. Secondly - setting up the preferences of my computer to accommodate the new monitor (more tons of fun) continued to offer only 30Hz refresh rate at "low resolution" using both HDMI ports. In the info section of the set, there is this: "Enjoy upgraded HDMI support with an upgraded HDMI (v2.0) that supports UHD resolutions at a 60Hz refresh rate." What? Where? How? After reading some of the Q&A in the reviews, it became evident (I think) that the only way to get full 60Hz refresh is by using the "DP" display port input. "Hello Amazon, I need a new cable overnighted to me." If there's a way to make the HDMI outputs jump through a different hoop, I'm all ears. Also - contrary to some reviews, the stand does indeed tilt forward & back. This is fine for me, but actually making it tilt was a bit nerve wracking because you have to exert pressure on what seems to be a solid piece of not all that substantial plastic until it "gives."The good news: now that I have apparently solved the Rubik's Cube riddle of how the thing works - the thing looks fantastic. Amazing what ten times the dots can do for resolution. I finally see how great my photos look, 4k videos on YouTube (which aren't even full 4k) are stunning and even my standard definition video projects absolutely pop. It's also nice to have a brilliant every day computer monitor. So, the Samsung gets 5+ stars for what it does. But I'm (generously) taking off a star because the set, along with all of the other massive headaches that went into graduating to the world of ultra hi-def is a minefield of expensive trial and error inconveniences & frustrations with very little in the way of simple information and instruction available on the web or from manufacturers.
