Review: Truly an awesome tool for sailors - Pros: -Easy, one-handed operation of both the serrated knife and the spike. Muscle memory brings either out and puts it back in without a problem. -Pliers are at the ready. Not for heavy work but perfect for that stubborn shackle. -Serrated blade cuts line fast and easy. Cons: -A little bulky. -Blade is a little short and I wish there was an option for a straight blade rather than serrated. I must admit that when sailing I need a cheese cutting knife as often as I need a line cutting knife...I know... -The belt clip is big but removable....don't use it..not really a con... -No flat head screwdriver. Seems like it would have been easy enough to add a little length to one of the stainless chunks and have a flat head screw driver function. It could double as a beer opener which is just as important...not that this thing can't open beers. -For some reason I feel like the lanyard attachment is on the wrong end of the knife. Conclusion: A really great knife at a good price. It replaces my Davis knife I used to carry on the boat. The pliers are invaluable. The blade is sharp and can cut through anything. A few gripes but minor... I can't tell you how many trips in to the cabin this knife has saved me..
Review: MARLIN SPIKE KNIFE -ESSENTIAL GEAR FOR SAILING SAFETY - I bought this for a sailing knife as I was getting back to my fundamentals of marlin spike seanmanship. I needed a marlin spike and - for the money, this seemed to be suitable. My first voyage with it I was single handing my 26 footer to Put-In-Bay in 25 knot winds when my furler line got tangled and I was unable to reef my Genoa. I was able to crawl up forward and untangle the line inside the bale using the marlin spike. Without it -would have been a disaster. Works well making monkey fists and splicing as well. The serrated knife cuts well however - it IS serrated. Would be nice to also have a sharp plain blade but - could easily convert the serrated edge to plain - yet I haven't. Its a real nice high quality knife for boating. Every Sailor should have one.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Versatile Tool .. well made
*by L***H on June 25, 2024*

Larger that its smaller predecessor which I lost recently. Spike and knife are great. Pliers are good for light tasks like tightening or loosening shackles. More robust tasks require a multi tool or better, but this thing fits in my PFD pocket and is there when I need it vs risking my expensive leatherman. Four stars because the sheath split when I placed the knife in it and the “ lanyard” is a joke. Flimsy pc of leather which I’d never trust.
