**Q: How many mg of hawthorn are in each pill?**
A: Nature's Way Heart Care is an extract of the oligomeric procyanidins (which are a kind of bioflavonoid) that are found in Hawthorn. The total amount of the extract itself is 80 mgs per tablet, and the oligomeric procyanidins in each tablet equal about 18.75% of this, or about 15 mgs. per tablet. Since in crude, unprocessed hawthorn, oligomeric procyanidins equal from 1 to 3% of the total weight of hawthorn, 80 mgs of 18.75% extract is equivalent to roughly 500 to 550 mgs of whole, unextracted hawthorn. This is a good supplement, actually, although hawthorn takes a while to work, it is very nourishing to the heart and vascular system. You will see results within a few weeks at 6 tablets per day.

**Q: Carmine is red food coloring from dead bugs.  Is there really carmine in these?**
A: Yes.  If bug parts bother you, don’t use ANY spices or culinary herbs.  There are bug parts (and a certain percentage are allowed by the FDA) in all of them.
