I was at first a little worried when this arrived and I saw how the packaging had the pad restricted down to a cylinder size. And when I removed the packaging, it took quite a few hours for the pad thickness to come back. But it does now recover quickly after I get up from it. When sitting on it the padding does provide some comfort and support on the sides that are not compressed as much. And I do weigh 180lbs.
