I didn't install it. I'm not handy, so I hired someone to do it. Second note. I bought it to cool down the bedroom while we sleep. I was a little worried because it was so much less expensive than the other options on desertcart. I have to say that I am pleasantly surprised by how effective it is. It's not the most powerful of machines, but if you need to keep a small room cooled down, this is great. I kind of put it in between a fan and a normal air conditioner in regards to performance, which is all I really needed. Even at full blast at the coldest setting for the whole night, it doesn't make the room ice cold or even close to ice cold. However, it definitely cools it down and I have it directly blowing on me which works great! It's actually really good for another purpose. I run it on low cool and about 6 on the dial and they often have to bundle up or ask me to turn it down while playing.
