Product Description Helmos Greek Oak Honey 250g is produced by the Souka family in Kalavryta at an altitude of 500m-1200m. Oak honey is one of the honeydew honeys, i.e. it is produced from the secretions of honeydew insects that parasitize the bark of the oak tree. Only the best parts of the pollen are carefully selected, following the strictest production standards. Beehives are kept amongst organic herb cultivations and transferred over a 1000m altitude in summer period to collect what Greek nature offers. It contains no added sugar, no preservatives. Ingredients 100% Greek Oak Honey, Raw and Unpasteurized. Directions Honey is unprocessed raw food and therefore not suitable for children under 12 months. Perfect for your breakfast, over yoghurt, toast or as a salad dressing. To benefit from the natural properties of the honey, consume one tablespoon each morning on an empty stomach. Review: Awesome - expensive but well worth it if you like a real orange taste to your honey rather than just a hint. It actually looks and feels like pure honey too. There is none of the 'mixed with corn syrup' feel about it. Ive spent more than the cost of this brand before, and got a watered down version of a honey that was most likely wonderful, before the makers decided to make more money, by watering down the pure honey with corn syrup or some other type of thinning agent! This brand is the real deal, with an amazing heavy orange flavour to it. will most definitely be buying this again.

I found it is similar to chestnut honey - rich and malty with a flavour slightly like licorice. I am adding to tea - enhances the flavour, and spreading on toast. It would work well as an addition to savoury dishes. It is thick and a little goes a long way so although it might seem expensive I feel it is good value for the quality of taste and thickness which lasts. I suffer with IBS and noticed a definite improvement in symptoms since taking a teaspoon before meals and in my mint tea.
