I installed the unit myself, having not done this before. It's a great looking unit. The first shipment had one scratch, in the worst place, on the handle plate, but they shipped me a replacement with no problem. This cost 50% more than a similar Schlage but the quality is better. The Baldwin includes a Schlage lock, so any locksmith can key it for you. The brass finish is much better than any of the more standard brands I saw in stores.

I bought this as a replacement to a thirty year old Baldwin.. damn the product has gone to crap. I would not recommend this garbage to anyone. In comparison to the replacement, it is made cheap, and will not last 10 years. The metal is thinner, cheaper and the quality is like some garbage made in China no doubt. The brand was bought by Stanley who also owns Kwikset junk locks.. they have factories in Mexicali and CHINA. Baldwin use to be high quality, made in PA.. this garbage is made just like Kwikset.. I know because I intalled it myself, and compared to the cheap stuff it is about the same garbage... My advice, if you want quality locks that will easily last 30 years, buy something else. Baldwin is NOT Baldwin anymore... DO NOT BUY the junk at Home Depot.. get a quality Lock that costs more, buy will be more secure and last 30 years. Medico, Mul-T-lock, Evva are far far superior locks. And available on Amazon too.
