Mind you, I don't mean to argue about what other owners have experienced. I'm merely relating my experience on these issues. Fit. My personal opinion is that this holster is not the least bit "bulky" and, instead, it is tailored to fit the BB Curve 8530. Stiff: The leather is neither soft nor stiff. I'd describe it as a reasonably supple, good quality leather with a fine-grain texture. Auto-lock: My BB Curve autolocks when I holster it. It does so whether it is facing toward or away from my body. It autolocks regardless of whether it is positioned right-side up or upside-down. However, while holstering the BB causes it to autolock, the reverse cannot be said. The Curve does NOT automatically unlock when unholstered - but that's just the way BlackBerries work. (The manufacturer makes you manually unlock it for security reasons. Otherwise, people could steal your personal information if you left your holstered BB somewhere - like in a gymn locker!) Clip: (a) I have experienced no problem with "snagging" the holster on furniture. It easily clips onto my belt. It holds very securely. To remove the holster, such as at airport check-ins, I either slide the holster toward my front - midway between belt loops - to give my fingers sufficient room to unhook the clip from the belt; or open my belt and slide the holster off. (b) The detents are thoughtfully positioned at 15-degree increments for controlling the holster rotation. They click into place with just the right amount of tension for me. Rotating the holster makes it convenient for me to retrieve the BB curve in certain situations, for example, when I'm sitting in my car or sitting at my desk. (c) Usually, the clip is the weakest point of the holster. This clip appears to be designed for the lifetime of the holster. Review: Better than expected, works for iPod / iPhone - I don't have a Blackberry. I bought this as a case for my iPod Touch 4th Generation. I have the iPod in a slider case that adds a bit of all-around thickness and it fits perfectly. The quality of construction is very good. The leather (or perhaps leatherette) has a good feel to it. Inside the case is lined with a smooth material that protects your phone from scratches. The magnetic catch closes firmly, but not overly so. The belt loop has a ratcheting swivel clip with a hook on the bottom.......nice touch. Clip-on is the way 2 go. *by D***N on September 29, 2010* I hate wasting time and money. Most of these cases are pretty cheap, but I seem to have them for about 3 - 6 months and then it's time for a new one. The main reason is the part that latches on to you belt, which has leather covering it, typically becomes "uncovered" through repeat sliding on and off of my belt. Another cause can be the entire clip separates from the case altogether! I believe this case resolves both problems by having an open-close clip mechanism (instead of the slide-on type), and a much stronger connection to the case. And to think that it is a BB case, made for BB phones! Why wouldn't you pay the few bucks that they are charging (I couldn't find a non-BB case any cheaper at Wal Mart/Target/etc)?
