For my MH / Linkitom combination the amber LEDs light up for brakes. It questioned this and the Linkitom rep said this happens sometimes with certain vehicles. I am just going to keep them and live with it. These are the only magnetic lights I found that have the magnet on the back of the light so I can stick them on the vertical part of my trunk lid.
