( They could reduce the price even further by using less fancy packaging and storage case). Once you screw on the wire for left or right you can start wearing them right away. Tip: Put your own 312 battery in. The batters that come with these hearing aids have too short a handle and are frustrating. Tip two: before you insert the little cylindrical bit into your ear, imagine the orientation of the hearing aid as it will be on your ear, and then tune the rocker volume adjuster way down, three or more clicks toward the rear of the device. Then it won't howl when you put it on. I have a $1500 phonak in my left ear and this much less expensive one in my right, and both are doing about the same. So I would seriously recommend one of these if one of yours goes on the fritz; and if you need both, spring for a pair. You'll get pretty good quality. ### ⭐⭐ 2.0 out of 5 stars Not a good substitute for expensive aids *by A***R on Reviewed in the United States on June 7, 2020* One of my expensive Oticon hearing aids got chewed by the dog and it would have cost $500 to repair. I bought a pair of these to see if they would work as well for a LOT less money. Not a chance. The primary, and important difference is that when you buy a profesional set like Oticon (for more money than you care to spend) you get a much more complex, versatile, controllable, and reliable device, which is electronically fitted to your personal hearing profile by a certified professional audiologist while you sit in a soundproof room. Then that profile is recorded on their equipment for future use and modification. That's a critical difference for anyone hard of hearing because a one-size-fits-all device with only limited adjustments like this one doesn't solve the hearing problem. It's like trying to make do with $15 drugstore reading glasses when you're nearsighted, cross-eyed, and have astigmatism. You really need a prescription to solve a medical condition.I suppose these aids might work for someone with minimum hearing loss perhaps due to an injury rather than deterioration caused by age, or perhaps to compensate for some bizzare noise problem in the working environment, or even to listen in on private conversations ?? This same comment applies to all of these low-cost aids, although I also found this particular set to have some minor quality/design problems. So I just put them away in their cute little boxes for emergency use in case the dog manages to get at my good set again. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars Good item for the price *by S***H on Reviewed in the United States on November 23, 2019* This hearing device is okay, I got it to replace my hearing aid that I cannot find anywhere. I wish it would amplify just a little bit more. I like the guide wire that holds it in your ear but it causes my ear to itch intensely. I thought it was the rubber diaphragm that goes into the ear but when I remove the guide wire that holds it in, the itching gets a lot better. It's still itchy, because of the material they make the diaphragm from, but not as much. My other hearing aid had clear silicone and this is some type of white, cheaper silicone material. Overall I would say this is a good product if you are just looking for something to boost your hearing.
