The waterfall filter does require two cartridges though and I just recently got it so when I went to the pet store to get replacement cartridges and saw they were $13 for one box of 3 filters I knew I needed to find another buying option. I was thrilled to find these at under $3 a box! Even though there is a minimum order of 2 boxes I’m still way ahead! I bought 3 boxes for less than I’d have spent on just 1 box! So needless to say, the value is excellent! I also have been very happy with their performance. Turtles are very messy animals, even when they’re babies like mine. Her tank has never been even a little bit cloudy aside from the first 2 days after setting up the tank for the first time, but that had nothing to do with the filter, it was new tank syndrome and once the good bacteria developed it cleared right up and thanks to these filters (and cleaning of course) it’s staying that way. It was suggested to me to replace the filters every 3 weeks, but after a week and a half the cartridges are still working perfectly. At 3 weeks I’ll evaluate again. For turtles replacement will be more frequent, but if you have less messy animals or fish you probably won’t have to do it so often. I have been using them for a couple of years and if changed regularly, water stays clear and fresh. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ TetraFauna ReptoFilter Filter cartridges maintain water clarity *by S***S on April 5, 2026* We've been using the filters for a week in our 20-gallon tank for our 10-month-old Red Slider. Previously, he was housed in a 2-gallon enclosure with filtration, but this little Turtle could put out some waste, requiring constant tank cleansing and water changes. After one week, and a 50% water change out, the water is clear thanks to these filters. I plan to change the filters and stick with the filter manufactirers filter, TetraFauna ReptoFilter Filter cartridges. See the difference between the small tank and the 20-gallon tank, which is using the TetraFauna ReptoFilter Filter cartridges. Update April 8, 2026: I replaced the filters today after 10 days. The filter motor was whining and the filters were absolutely full of waste and debris. I changed out the filters and ensured the filter motor was cleaned out. As I said, this little turtle can put out some waste and these filters can absolutely do their job.
