Review: LOVING it so far - I've only been drinking Visalus for 6 days but so far I am beyond excited. I am using these as a meal replacement for 2 meals a day since I am trying to lose weight. After 5 days I have lost 7.5 lbs with no change to my normal exercise routine. I do walk 4.25 miles most mornings and walk an additional 3.75 miles in the afternoon 4 times per week. I can't possible imagine being able to lose that much weight every week but it's a GREAT start. For healthy snacks I've been eating a piece of fruit (banana, apple, etc.). I did do some trial and error to determine what worked for me from a taste perspective and have provided details below. Overall details: -These fill me up at 2 scoops per shake - If sufficiently mixed in a blender or with a shaker bottle I do not think these are grainy at all and I'm pretty picky from a texture standpoint Note: I have determined that the shaker bottle works great and no longer bother with the overhead of using a blender -To me there is a slight aftertaste but I just follow each shake with a chaser of 12oz of water -The first few days I was physically EXHAUSTED - even going to bed earlier. I think my body has now adjusted and I seem to be at normal energy levels again. -The first few days I did have a persistent headache. Again, I think this was my body adjusting to the lower calories. What didn't work for me: -Shake mixed in blender with water and no additional flavorings. YUCK! -Shake mixed in blender with skim milk and no additional flavorings. YUCK!!! What worked for me: -Shake mixed in blender (or shaker bottle) with 1 cup skim milk (80 calories) and 2 tbsp sugar free pudding mix - YUM! -Shake mixed in blender (or shaker bottle) with 1 cup unsweetened blend of coconut milk and almond milk (35 calories) and 2 tbsp sugar free pudding mix - YUM! If you mix everything together in the morning and let it sit until the afternoon it's almost a pudding consistency which you can eat with a spoon or somewhat drink as a beverage (it's thick). I find it equally as good to just mix together and drink right away. Since I am using sugar free pudding mix in my shakes I can easily switch up the flavors so it doesn't get boring: Chocolate, butterscotch, pistachio, banana cream, etc. Next I plan on trying to mix in fruit and ice instead of pudding mix to add additional variety. I doubt I would do this during the week due to convenience but it might be a nice change on the weekends. I am also not sure that "just" fruit will mask the taste of the base shake flavor enough for me to like it. UPDATE: I have been drinking Visalus as meal replacement for 2 meals a day for 5 weeks and have lost 17.8 lbs so far. I take Saturdays off from calorie scrutinization and pretty much allow myself to eat whatever on that one day. This gives me a way to "reward" myself for a good week, provides a mental break and IMO informs my body "hey, don't worry - we are not starving"
Review: MIXED EMOTIONS, but tastes great, lots of good stuff in it. - I gave this product 5 stars, but with mixed emotions. It is certainly very tasty, mixes with anything you like to make a very low-cal, low carb drink. It is a little pricey, but with free shipping it is still not bad compared to a lot of drinks/supplements available that don't taste nearly as good. It does have LOTS of healthy vitamins/minerals, fiber and is low sodium. Bravo for that! It is hard to get the best of both worlds, I know! On a low-carb diet, it is hard to find anything "sweet", and the use of artificial sweeteners is something I try to avoid but is nearly impossible - especially in pre-packaged foods. This mix contains sucralose. Of course, everyone has their opinion and reacts differently to different sweeteners. I don't have any adverse reactions to any of them in term of headaches, etc. The other concern is that the product is Soy based, which I have been reading about - Soy suppresses the Thyroid gland - which regulates metabolism. So, it might be a catch-22 kind of thing. If you are eating a diet heavy in soy and not losing weight - it might be a clue as to why not. On the plus side: It does have MTC's (medium chain triglycerides) which are found in coconut oil, and they HELP your thyroid. If your thyroid is suppressed, you don't lose weight without a fight, believe me. So, my personal answer to using this product is to make a shake in a blender once a day - sometimes twice, using almond or coconut milk, pouring in a couple tsps of melted coconut oil to get it blended in, and then a 1/2 cup of wild blueberries (frozen) and a bit of crushed ice. Tastes like "Blueberry Ice Dream" that I used to love at Chik'fil'A. Hoping that adding the coconut oil will appease my thyroid, and besides - 90 calories for a "meal" is just not enough. Make sure to add something more substantial like a good fat (natural peanut butter or almond butter, coconut oil) to keep your metabolism from tanking. I also like it as a beverage/snack using just 1 scoop and some kind of milk, it is delicious and filling for 45 calories (plus the milk). I will use this bag up, and see how it goes - along with doing low carb/protein/healthy fat, plus exercise. I also just started taking iodine supplements to boost my thyroid function. (I am hypothyroid and Synthroid really doesn't seem to do anything for me, even when it keeps my levels in an "acceptable" range - however, after adding coconut oil to my food, my levels dropped after only 6 weeks. Hopefully this trend will continue and I can get off of thyroid medications). It is a good meal replacement for me when I am on the run or not taking time to cook a real meal. It does state in the marketing that is is made with Soy, but I really wish the entire ingredient label were shown. This seems to be the case with just about anything on desertcart, however.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Shocked at how good this was
*by R***D on April 27, 2015*

Seriously, I thought I would hate this product. I have an aversion to soy in any form, but I was desperate. I needed something that I would make easily and change the flavor around so I didn't get sick of it. I need to be on a meal replacement diet for at least 3 months. When I opened the pouch this morning. I thought here we go, it smells like the formula powder I used to mix up on the farm 50 years ago for the baby calves that lost their moms. It didn't smell bad...but it smelled just like that stuff. I made two shakes today with the powder and I was delighted. Since it is only 90 calories before you start adding things too it, there is some wiggle room for making it great tasting. Some of the meal replacement powders are already so high in calories you can't add anything to them or you might as well have a regular meal. I used 8 oz of low fat milk this morning, with six ice cubes and a cup of frozen raspberries. I didn't realize the powder has a little sweetener right in it. I did not have to add any additional sweetening to make it taste great. It made a beautiful thick tasty shake. For lunch I made one with frozen peaches, 1/2 cup of orange juice and 1/2 cup vanilla coconut milk and a few drops of vanilla extract. Fabulous. You can make all kinds of combinations with this one powder. I am not going to have a hard time staying on this at all. I hesitated buying something like this because of the price...what if it was was awful? It was very very good to my surprise. It comes out to $1.67 plus whatever you want to add, per shake... That is a lot lower that most breakfast or lunches out. Most people spend a lot more on that on their coffee each day. When I looked at it that way...I decided it was very cost effective ...since it was easy to use and tasted great. I would like to add after being on this now for 5 days..I dropped 7 pounds without feeling hungry or deprived. I feel this best I have felt in a long time and I an no longer sleepy in the afternoons..because of carb overload. When you feel better you are far more active. Helpful Hint...I was looking at the rating on this and trying to figure out why anyone wouldn't have given this 5 stars...I thought...They must not be mixing it right. For maximum enjoyment...don't put this in one of those shaker bottles with a ball and shake...You certainly will not get the best result that way. If you want a really delicious meal...then use a blender or bullet type machine. Start by placing a cup of liquid (juice, milk, coconut milk..whatever combination you like) in with the powder first...blend for a minute, so that it is smooth, then add your 6-8 ice cubes and frozen fruit.) Blend until is it thick and creamy. I like mine thick to eat with a spoon so I add a lot of ice...want to just drink it with a straw...add less ice. Enjoy...and watch the pounds melt away.
