It replaced its identical twin in a halogen lamp, and does its job correctly. That's all I wanted, and that's all I got. It earns full points for being just what it ought to have been. Now go and read a one-star review written by someone who thought he was buying a pony, and only discovered his error after unwrapping the thing. Review: Great replacement for table/floor lamps, electric fireplaces, etc.... - This little dimmer was perfect for replacing the one on my electric fireplace. It has just 1 issue. The nut for tightening it in place is way too small from a thickness standpoint. It's only 1&1/2 threads thick. It will strip out the threads on the tube with just "pinkie" torque. I had to go to my local Ace Hardware and rumage through the replacement lamp parts and found a jam nut that was thicker. Other than that, it works perfect. One caution to note: This dimmer is rated at 200 watt max. That means you should never load it beyond 75 to 80% if you want long life. This is not a material defect. This a general "rule of thumb" for any electrical device in your home. My electric fireplace has 4 candelraba lamps. You can get these from 25 up to 60 watts. I had 4 60's in mine and it roached the original dimmer. There wasn't any max watt warning sticker either. Wall dimmers are rated for much higher watts.
