We noticed two things, the inner heating elements only partially warmed up (faint glow on top element), and upon moving the toaster, it was blazing hot. We then tried to toast bread and sure enough, it was either broken or stuck on bagel mode. The toast was only toasted on one side. We hit the bagel mode button, but the behavior was the same. Usually bagel mode is only the inside elements heat. This is a good looking toaster, but it has cheap construction, poor quality, expensive, and dangerously hot (even for adults).
