I haul a 14’.5” kayak in the bed with this extender with no problems. The maximum length depends on the length of your bed and that you are past the center line of the material you are hauling . **Q: I have a Nissan Frontier crew cab with a 5+ ft bed + tailgate. Will this hitch mount give me 11' total to haul a 14' ladder?** A: This extender will only extend about 4.5 feet from the hitch. So with the tailgate down you are looking at about 3 to 3.5 past the edge of the tail gate. You would have roughly 5 feet, give or take a bit, extending out past the extender. I have used this to haul a 14.5 canoe with my truck bed being 6.5 feet and then the tail gate. It handled the load with no problem with no slippage or bouncing.
