**Q: What would the sandpaper block be for?**
A: It would be for the shading pencils to kinda scrape them after you use them for a while. Think of it as a pencil sharpener for shading sticks.

**Q: Are the oil pastels like a crayon rather than paint? Are they age appropriate for a child of 7 or 8 years old? Thanks!**
A: That is correct, while it's not a "crayon" it is similar. 
And age appropriate depends on your child. I bought this my for my 7 years old if that helps.
But full disclosure I returned this item almost immediately. The wood box is horribly made. The drawers don't line up ( so you can't close it) and the knobs fall off, the lid doesn't line up correctly. I can't speak to the overall quality of the art materials but if the quality of the box is any indication, the art supplies are probably junk as well

**Q: Where are the 3 mixing palettes? Thry wete not in the wooden box.**
A: I don’t know about “Mixing Palettes”, but their are 3 watercolor palettes. Hope this helps.

**Q: Can I order replacement pens and pencils?**
A: not that i know of

I bought this for my eight year old Nephew, I had purchased him a smaller one previous, and he loved it and learning to paint and draw. I decided to get him a much sturdier set, with so much more variety, and with a case that will last a very long time, it is so organized, and he was so very happy with it. Great Value.

Bought for my grandson awhile back, I think a couple years ago. And talk about longevity. These do the trick. He loved them back then and they’re still going strong for him now.A very large assortment of colors and accessories. The case was well put together too.I’d totally buy again if I needed to. But they put so much in this case it will be a long time before I’d need to buy again.
