I tried the full protected armored suits but they are hot and a PITA. I have a pair of elbow guards I wear with this and it provides good upper protection for the how I ride rocky rooty trails in New England.

I used to have a full set of Bell one piece elbow/shoulder/chest protectors but it was uncomfortable and hot. This one has been great though, no shoulder protectors is a lot more comfortable, its breathable so its not hot, and none of the protector moves or gets in the way while riding. Easy to put on and take off with just a couple clips, and lots of adjustment as well.
