So, to answer the question it is 2-ply. **Q: Is this organic cotton?** A: No. It's natural cotton. **Q: Does the brick red color look as it does in the picture, in person?** A: Yes it is a deep red with a touch of brown in it. **Q: I'm looking for cord to sew baskets and trivets. I have been using clothesline cord. Is this cord to soft to use?** A: this cord is soft. I don't think it would work well for baskets, but would be fine for trivets.
