Is low enough for young kids?** A: My five year 44 inches, has a bit of a problem with the height of the baseball ( rope length is too high) which creates a high ball. The softball attachment is lower and helps. Note: the 5 yr old is not very coordinated yet.Now the 10 year old rocks, no issues at all other than taking her eye off the ball.I believe the 7th old will not have any issues.One more thing, with this equipment, it will be best to assist and provide some instruction for a while until they learn to hit with power. The power is what winds up the rope that than unwinds for them to hit. I like to count three unwinds before they hit: for timing. Without the power, the rope (cable) goes limp and you have to wind it up with some help. Once they figure it out, no worries. The individual softball and baseball Hit-A-Way products use Velcro straps to attach the cable to trees or poles 4" or less in diameter. The PTS is a pole 4" or less in diameter. Strap on the softball and swing away! No extra parts are required. The Velcro strips may slide or rotate slightly after 20-30 hits, but that will occur on any free-standing pole. I suspect 2-3 wraps of duct tape might a pliable surface to help keep it in place.For those with the perspective that practicing with a smaller ball will make it easier to hit a larger ball, keep in mind that the ball weights are different. A softball can weigh 30-40% more than a baseball. The feel is entirely different. This is the one...... *by A***R on May 31, 2014* Purchased this after trying the Louisville Slugger Swing Rep hitting station first. Our choice was narrowed down to that or this SKLZ Hit-A Way. I should have bought this one first. We used the Louisville Slugger Swing Rep hitting station for 3 days and had issues with the "rebound" of the ball after hitting. It worked great the first evening but seemed as though the elastic was worn out and ball wouldn't reset properly. Decided to send it back and basically exchange it for the SKLZ Hit-A Way. This works way better. Forces batter to concentrate on hitting a moving ball. Pitch height adjustments stay set and don't fluctuate unless you change them. Much more sturdier as well. Of course its heavy because of the extra sturdy factor, but that's to be expected. Still easy to move around however. Super simple set-up right out of the box as well. Didn't take 45 minutes to build, total bonus! Give it a shot, you wont be disappointed! FOLLOW-UP: Quick follow-up. Utilized SKLZ customer service with a question regarding the ball. Explained we had this unit for just over 2 weeks. The baseball became out of round somewhat but I mentioned this thing was basically being hammered by half the little league team. I was just trying to order a new ball and cable but they not only covered it as a warranty claim being only 2 weeks into use, the sent 2 replacements!!
