The thickness is pretty decent. I use this mat 2-3 times a week and if I forgot it I can DEFINITELY tell a difference. My only issue is that if I get a good work out in and I'm sweating, the mat gets slippery. I'm not a big sweater, but I notice that if I am in downward dog or another pose where my hands take the weight, I find that my hands will slip.
