My Frenchy recovered within a week or so, but my Maltese was just too sick. I took him to the vet, who gave him an antibiotic, but little Basil lost all of his hair, 1/2 of his body weight, and all of his vigor. His skin was bright red and the black spots on his skin (typical of Maltese), disappeared. We thought we were going to lose both dogs and prepared ourselves for the loss. Fortunately, Basil was a fighter and he held on for another two weeks, but with little improvement. Since the vet concurred that he had probably been poisoned, I took matters into my own hands. I bought these Vitamin K tablets and started Basil on a double dose. Within just a couple of days his skin started to lighten up. He started eating again too. He has been on these supplements for about 14 days. His black spots have returned and his skin is a mostly light pink and still fading.
