After changing out the battery (very carefully, because in the past I have ruined an item because of the wiring), it works fine but I limit the time it stays on and It must get direct sunlight everyday for it to be bright...I got the colorful one and it is very pretty.

A: I know this sounds silly but —— is there a clear plastic covering on the solar area ?   I have bought a few of these all different kinds and some of them have that - that needs to be removed.  Mine are all still working and I have them for almost 2 years !!
