A: Completely different things. Diastatic malt powder is malted barley and contains enzymes for converting starches into yeast consumable sugars. It's for baking or fermenting. Nothing to do with malted milk.

**Q: How much of it is needed in a bread recipe, lets say, a 3 1/2 cups of flour?**
A: I use 3 1/3 cups of flour in my bread (1.5C whole wheat and 1.5C+1/3C bread flour), and I use 2 tsp. of diastatic malt powder.

My father-in-law used it for a better crust, and although it may be confirmation bias, the crust doesn't seem as... crusty when I don't use it.

**Q: Can I use this to make malted shakes?**
A: No, this is the type of malt used in bread making. You would want to use non diastatic malt mixed with milk powder. Essentially go to the grocery store and buy malted milk powder. Use that to make malted milkshakes.

**Q: Is this good for pizza, especially Detroit or Sicilian pan style pizza crust?**
A: if you are making Sicilian pizza @ home and cooking 400-500 degrees, especially if you are fermenting for longer than a day, it definitely will help with the rise & browning.
