I purchased 72 liriope and that meant 72 3 inch holes in my yard. We're experiencing both a heat wave and smoke in the air from fires in Canada, resulting in unhealthy air. Not a good time to be exerting oneself outdoors. I first called the company to be sure the product I wanted would fit my 3/8" drill. The only one they had was a 12 long auger that cuts a 3 inch hole. I had thought I wanted a longer one, but, as it turns out, longer is heavier, and heavier is more steel to deal with. The 12 inch was perfect. It took me 3 hours to dig the 72 holes, and that includes 2 breaks to cool down indoors. I'd still be there without it. As to how well the product worked to cut the holes, I cannot be more pleased. It cuts well, it's almost effortless, quite a difference from using a trowel or a shovel or a post hole digger. The area where I was working has a lot of roots so the auger had a tougher job than cutting through soil only. The one caveat I'd say is that the drill you use must be able to reverse direction. I needed to do that occasionally to release the auger from the roots it encountered. Overall, the tool is worth far more than the price and I'm a lucky guy to have found it.
