It will shut the system down if it starts raining during operation as long as it is enough water. Mine normally will not run for at least 24 hours after a good rain. **Q: how far apart can sensor and reciever be?** A: Up to 800' line of sight. This varies depending on what the signal is passing through, walls, trees etc. We recommend trying to keep it within 50' of the controller. **Q: Will the transmitter and receiver stay paired up after a power outage or do you have to manually reestablish pairing?** A: I have to reset from outside every time there's an outage. **Q: Can this be installed with a Weathermatic SL 1600 controller?** A: If the Weathermatic SL has a "bypass" or sensor system in place, you should be able to us it. Review the owners manual for the Sensor to see if your controller wiring schematic is compatible. I used the Hunter RainClick on a Rainbird controller.
