I have tried on Brooks and Mizuno, etc, and just prefer Saucony. If you run in Saucony then you like them, if you're trying them for the first time then you MUST TRY ON THE SHOES. Don't buy shoes without trying the new brand on! That being said, these are great long-distance shoes! I use these if I'm running for about 4+ miles at a time. I am attempting to transition from a heel-toe runner to running on the balls of my feet so I also bought the Saucony Men's Mirage 3 Running Shoe at the same time (you can see that review as well; 5-stars as well). These are good for longer distances for me because I can still run mostly heel-toe but after 5 or 6 miles I need to slow it down and run the old heel-toe method to give my calves a break. There is a good amount of padding in the heel and the toe and that does add a bit of weight, but nothing overt. These shoes are designed to be stabilization shoes. They are very rigid and stiff with not a lot of bend in them. This is not a draw back, but if you need this then these shoes are perfect. My feet pronate a little bit and ankles hurt after a while. These shoes do a great job of keeping my knees over my ankles and don't allow them to roll, at the same time as providing a great cloud-like cushion for my feet. Truth be told, go to their website so you can read how all their shoes are designed to perform, then come back to Amazon for the price! ;) ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Run Like a Professional Marathoner In These *by J***N on September 15, 2014* I used to only wear Nike shoes because I didn’t know anything about proper running shoes. When I started increasing my mileage, soreness in my back, knees and hips became persistent. I put up with it for years until finally I was talked into going to a running store where they evaluated my needs and recommended Saucony Hurricanes.This shoe is great and my knee and arch pain is gone!Here are some things to know about this shoes...- great for someone with high arches- good cushioning, support, and durability- buy a half-size up from your regular street shoes (I normally wear a 9 in and purchased a 9.5 2E in this running shoe.)- has a wide toe box- considered a "stability" shoe that is good for high mileage or high frequency of use- works well for over pronation ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great shoe *by F***A on April 29, 2014* I used to wear saucony grid hurricanes about 10 yrs ago, but they changed and srarted making grid 3d, progrid, etc.They didn't fit and support my feet like the original ones. I changed to brooks beast for the last 8-9 yr. Seems like they have returned to the original shoe. I recently lost 70 lbs and my feet changed alot from 4eee to d width.
