I didn’t want to spend more than a couple hundred on a fork since my bike is already a few years old and I will probably upgrade in a year or two anyway. The difference between my old coil fork and this item is night and day. It is very smooth and responsive. Installation was a little difficult since I removed and installed the crown race myself instead of taking it to a bike shop. I used a screwdriver and hammer to remove the crown race and am probably lucky that I did not accidentally damage it. (It might be worth it to buy a new crown race to avoid this) I also used a piece of pvc pipe and mallet to reinstall the crown race. Also, you will need to cut the new fork stem down to match your original and will need to purchase a new star nut to reinstall . I used a pipe cutter tool from Lowe’s to get a clean cut. You will also need a shock pump in order to pump this up to the required pressure based on your weight.
