He's typically such a snob when it comes to any and all things in the kitchen, so for him to give an enthusiastic stamp of approval on the Victorinox knives is really a testament to their quality. My collection consists of the Victorinox fibrox cleaver and 8" chefs knife, plus this swiss classic collection of 8" bread knife, 7" carver/slicer, tomato knife & serrated and straight edge pairing knives. The only difference as far as I can tell between the fibrox and swiss classic are that the fibrox handles are rounder in girth. The materials and quality appear the same to me. Some folks might claim that the handles are cheap plastic, but I very much disagree... These textured handles help maintain precise control and a firm grip even with wet, slippery, and slimy hands which not only improves your knife skills, but safety as well. In the years since I've owned this set, they've kept their razor sharp edge & have not discolored or rusted. I love them so much, I bought my mom a set. Although I purchased 2 additional knives, this swiss classic set is really all you need if you want a more downsized but complete set.
