Removes just enough pilling without shaving excess fabric. Chamber fills up fast so I just keep a garbage pail nearby to empty it. Small brush helps get excess if caught by the blades. I’d much rather have a smaller unit than a bigger one with a bigger chamber that doesn’t work as well as this one. If you have a problem shaving pills, just slowly make small circles around it.

**Q: can it be used on comforters?**
A: Yes it will. Have used on everything from sweaters the sweat pants.

**Q: Will this work on loose knit sweaters without damaging it?**
A: It worked for me on a loose knit cashmere scarf. I lay the scarf flat on my dining room table and it works great.

**Q: Does it remove dog hair?**
A: In my opinion, you may need to use a sticky faced lint roller made by 3M company sold at most any dollar store outlets. The lint remover works mostly on tiny balls of lint on fabric from washing the item. The lint shaver is not designed to pull animal hair ground into a material it may only trim the hair not pull it from being woven into the fabric.

**Q: Does it work well on cashmere sweaters?**
A: I have not used on cashmere, it's worked well with my cotton and blend sweaters

Easy-use handheld shaver for pilling on clothes. I bought this to replace a larger corded one I have that doesn’t work well on my sweaters. I had an old fabric shaver that I previously used to de-pill fabric. It quit working a few years ago and I have been looking for a replacement. I saw a Consumer Reports review comparing several fabric shavers. The Philips Fabric Shaver was one of them. It wasn't CR's #1 choice, but they rated it almost as high and it cost less than 1/4 of the price. I purchased this model and was very happy with my decision. The fabric shaver does a very good job by removing pills easily. The shaving surface is large enough to complete the de-pilling task quickly. It holds a lot of removed material, and it is easy to clean. It takes 2 AA batteries. It is nicely designed but I needed to read the instructions to be aware of how to reach the different parts of the equipment. I'm very happy with this small but useful machine.
