This book is one of the favorites in my collection...not just for the aesthetic but also for the content. Fern Mallis is more than just a fashion icon, she is a source of empowerment, motivation and inspiration for people inside and outside the fashion industry. I love the way that this book really shows you the people behind the brands. Most fashion books give us the industry accomplishments and history of brands. However, we rarely get such a personal, in-depth perspective of the designers we love. Fern has done this so well in her talk and translating the content into Fashion Lives: Fashion Icons with Fern Mallis. I'm already looking forward to Volume 2! I wish we could also get the talks on DVD!

    Another monstrously huge book

Book is beautiful but once again I mistakenly ordered a book without checking out the size.  I should know by now that most fashion books will be huge because of the numerous high quality photos on which most are based, but this is another one of those monstrous, cumbersome volumes that must be read sitting in a recliner rather than when waking during the night and looking for something interesting to read.  Must remember to check the size and weight of my books in future fashion oriented books. Can hardly even lift this one!

It should have been titled  Fashion Lives : American Fashion Icons ......Should have paid more attention to the  guest list on the cover rather than the title ....am more  interested in Global.....American designers  yes in there too..... got tired of the format .....star signs ? in 2015..wouldnt it have been better vegan paleo carnivore  to peg them as an opener  ?Seems like would have been better a serialized version in Vanity Fair ....I find it hard to get cozy with a coffee table book on my lap....I needed a  table  top for the book and my coffee cup on it .
