However, even if you're a jaded adult cyclist, there's more than meets the eye and there may be something in it for you. If you have a cargo rack on your bicycle, this is the perfect taillight. Mounts easily and securely to the rear with two zip ties, and lasts long enough for multiple night rides. Stuff two AAA's in a Ziploc bag, put it in your pannier bag, and enjoy the piece of mind that you can quickly swap them out without tools should the light start to die out on you. Lighting options include solid light and three flashing modes of increasing frequency. The LEDs shine bright, and in a horizontal position facing directly behind, is nearly impossible to miss in the dark. I've had a handful of these lights since middle school, and the first few did succumb to corrosion after lots of use and sitting exposed to the winter elements. However, the two I have now (the oldest being a few years old) still work fine despite exposure to the elements. I highly recommend installing with the battery cover facing down so as to drain any water that enters. This makes replacing batteries a little more cumbersome, but it's still very easy and quick to do on the side of the road, and the batteries last surprisingly long for only two AAAs so unless you do consistent riding in dark/inclement conditions, you shouldn't have to replace them too often. I've had the same batteries in mine for a few months, and they still shine bright after some hours of night riding. Even if I had to replace the whole unit every year, it would be well worth the ~$12 for the utility, ease of installation and use, cheap price, reliability, battery life, and visibility.
