It’s a lovely story. Review: A Real Favourite - Only buy this book if you are very patient and love, love, love repetition - you will be reading it a lot! It has been a huge favourite with my little boy from around a year onwards. He firstly just loved opening the flaps on each page, which are nice and sturdy, but then started to understand the story and be able to pick out details in the pictures when asked, so it does grow with the child to an extent. Great for very young children that might be a bit baffled by longer stories and rhymes, this is simple and interactive enough to keep them engaged and my little boy got a real feeling of accomplishment when he could "find" hen at the end. I ended up buying a second copy since the garden gate on the first one was very much loved (aka crumpled). The hardback separate copies are also much stronger than the three Acorn Wood books in one that I have also bought, (the 3 in 1 version would only suit an older child that can be trusted not to grab/pull/twist/be a usual toddler with the flaps).
