Review: Exactly what I've been looking for! - Really enjoying using these brushes for free style abstract acrylic. I have been searching for a wide thin bristle brushes. The cheap ones shed REALLY BAD! The high quality wide brushes I've found have thick deep bristles, which hold a tremendous amount of paint. I needed a brush that is wide and will move or spread the paint on the canvas, thicker brushes of this size act more like a mop brush. Maybe another way to describe the action I found with this brush is comparable to a squeegee. (this is if you apply heavy pressure with lots of paint) Turn the brush sideways and it creates great fine lines perfect for very large canvases. I also like the feeling this brush has in your hand. Without a typical handle, you can maneuver the brush in different ways to create new affects. I would highly recommend this brush to any painter that likes to experiment with different tools. The only complaint I have is the price. That's a selfish complaint, I would like to have a dozen of these brushes, but can't quite afford it at the moment. Although you get what you pay for here. Liquitex makes a great product.

**Q: what is the difference between paddle brush and flat brush? 
Thanks.**
A: The handle is a paddle? The width and lenght of the brush hairs on a paddle brush can make a difference on managing the acrylic paint. Its a matter of preference. I decided to try it and it was a great decision i made to cover large areas with acrylic paint. I don't know how it will work with other mediums, but it works well with acrylics.

**Q: Does this brush shed?**
A: It helps to know which brush you meant since there are several products clumped together on this listing. The splatter brush doesn't shed but the ferrule is loose and wobbly on 2 I've received so far. Disappointed in the quality considering I've trusted the Liquitex brand over 50 years.

**Q: Is this a soft brush, or a harder bristle designed to create bristle brush strokes?**
A: It is a stiffer bristle brush, but not as stiff as hog hair.  It is designed for applying large areas of color or varnish.  Unless the paint/varnish is very thin, it is likely that you will produce brush strokes/streaks with it.

**Q: Would this brush be good for applying varnish to wood furniture?**
A: I suppose it would. It has great coverage, but is more of an artist brush. It holds paint very well.
