My son wears a 12 in almost every other brand, and we ended up buying a 10.5 in this shoe. Bizarre how off the sizing runs, but we are really happy with them now that they finally fit. He has a rather high arch, therefore the top of his foot is high, and many hook/loop straps end up looking strange and leaving a lot of the Velcro exposed. The exposed Velcro portion ends up snagging carpet, or filling with grass and playground mulch, but the strap on this shoe crosses over his high foot enough to prevent this.
