It is thick enough to lead my to believe that it would protect the camera from scratches and dents in the likely event of a fall. I find that this case actually makes using the small and rather stiff buttons on the camera easier. It goes on and comes off of the camera nicely and fits well once on. All of the cut-outs line up well with the various features of the camera which would require it, including the microphone holes, lens, flash, and wrist strap loop. The only complaint that I have with this case pertains only to serious under-water use. (SCUBA diving) There are contacts on the camera which, when bridged by water, put the camera in its under water mode. This case seals the camera so well that when the camera is submerged, it takes some time for water to reach the contacts. After the camera is removed from water, it takes some time to drain and let the camera stop thinking it's out of water.
