The screeching sound might drive you bananas, but it fades and disappears in a month or so. When his monkey became mute, I found this one online and bought 3 of them. The sounds wear out sooner and are not as loud as the one I bought somewhere else. But that is a plus. The 4 yr. old great-grandson likes it also, but needs supervision as the arms are rubberized (it is a slingshot) and could hit himself in the face with it. So we must make sure he is throwing it.
