They cannot be washed and dried. **Q: Are these a one time use and then throw away** A: Depending on what you are cleaning I get several uses before replacing **Q: Would there be a reason to use these over blowing off the dust with an air compressor?** A: In my experience, when applying a fine finish such as urethane or other clear finishes, the cleaner the surface the better the finished product. Tack cloths help knock down and remove the tiny fibers that adhere to the surface, even after cleaning with a compressor. I do both.
