It comes with an adaptor for both ends and a flex hose about the size of a clothes dryer hose. Then there is an adjustable window piece that will fit in a horizontal opening from about 18" and larger. The whole thing can be assembled in less than 5 minutes. All pieces are well made plastic and snap together. I'm not sure how one would use the kit with a vertical window opening. Hope this helps. **Q: Do you leave the screen in the window? I wonder if the screen will melt?** A: Hello! I always leave the screen in the window for my unit. I've never had any issues with the window screen melting or warping myself...the unit exhausts a lot of hot air but doesn't appear to be enough to affect the metal of the screen, and in fact I personally think it may be best to leave it in anyway in case bugs might fly in the hose. It also helps to have something extra to anchor the hose attachment in your window. Hope this helps! **Q: Is there ever any water accumulation that needs to be drained? Or is it always evaporated?** A: Ours evaporates normally, but when outside is particularly humid, or we've run our house-attached swamp cooler (for whole-house cooling) for an extended period (12+ hours) it can start to fill up the reservoir faster than it evaporates it. We have never had to drain it, yet though. We just hear a dripping coming from the interior of the unit on rare occasions. **Q: Window attachment. I was know the window bracket is adjustable from 19.9 to 47.25 inches. I was curious on how wide it is?** A: In all honesty, I couldn't tell you. The window bracket has an additional sliding part to fit larger windows. But even the base part was too large for my window and I had to cut some of it off.
