4.5 Stars - Great ending to the series.

Book Review:I liked that the authors approached this with both Ethan's and Lena's POV. If you remember where Beautiful Chaos left off, then you can see how the division of Beautiful Redemption makes complete sense. I am glad we were finally able to be in Lena's mind and see how she truly felt about Ethan, and that it wasn't just his one-sided feelings continuing their relationship. Throughout this final novel we are able to see how strongly Ethan and Lena feel toward one another and how great their characters truly are together. The authors also did a great job giving us the sense of urgency and need the characters had with solving the Ethan dilemma...if this dilemma could even be solved.I continued to love all the amazing characters that Garcia and Stohl created. We get to see a more vulnerable side to Link, a slightly softer side to Ridley, a heroic side to John Breed, a sensitive side to Liv, a vulnerable side to Amma, and the continuing protective side to Macon. We are even introduced to a few new characters, one of which was Xavier who really grabbed at my heart. One thing I liked about this book is that it didn't have the repetitiveness found in the first two books in particular. We are put right into the action and thick of things from the start. This is a journey with a time limit, and the flow and pace of the storyline reflected that urgency. But the pace of the story did not detract from the beautiful writing that Garcia and Stohl have developed together. As we find ourselves in different scenes and situations, their words are able to paint a graphic picture of what is going on and what the scene looks like, pulling the reader right in. I think I expected a little more action than we received, but the action that did happen was well played. The ending was touching and well thought out. It wasn't the perfect HEA. There was still loss. This wouldn't be the Caster world without consequences. But it was a satisfactory ending for me. I felt emotionally attached to Ethan and Lena's story and appreciated how the authors brought things together for me in the end.Bottomline: The is a great series, with beautiful writing and amazing characters. Beautiful Redemption proved itself as a terrific final chapter that did not disappoint me. I definitely recommend this series.Audiobook Narrator Review:This series continued with the same narrator, Kevin T. Collins, for Ethan throughout all the books, which I really liked. I enjoyed his voices for most of the characters, and liked how he represented Ethan in this final installment. He wasn't quite as whiny as the last book. The narrator for Lena, Khristine Hvam, was good and had a lovely voice, though her pauses between segments were a bit more abrupt than the other narrator. I was also used to his voices for Link, and others, so it took some adjusting. But she still did a good job, and overall I'm very glad I chose to listen to the entire series on audio, even though I own all the hardcover books.

Sadly, the series ends. Yes, it's a great book. And yes, bring your tissues.

Let me start by saying I absolutely loved this series for one reason: Ethan Wate. His sweet, sensitive devotion to the moody Caster Lena is powerful; powerful enough to transcend death, powerful enough to force Ethan to face the evil of the Far Keep so that he may go "back home" to his life, his family, his friends, and Lena. The magical world of Casters and Keepers and Sirens and Light and Dark and teenage love created by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl is intoxicating. But for me, the story was always about Ethan, and his love for LenaBeautiful Chaos, the third book of the magical series, ended with Ethan jumping from the Summerville water tower to restore world order and save his friends and family. All of seventeen years old and the boy sacrificed himself as was pre-ordained by The Caster Chronicles, leaving his loved ones behind, shattered and heart-broken. Beautiful Redemption picks up immediately after with Ethan waking up...he's not home, but it is his house, and it is Gatlin. But, now he resides in His Garden of Perpetual Peace cemetary with former Gatlin residents that have passed on; including his fiesty Aunt Prue and her five dead husbands. And his mom. He is able to talk and be with his mom for the first time in years and it is a bittersweet, tearful reunion. As much as he treasures this time with his mom, he wants to go back; he wants to return to the world of living, and Lena. The book is divided into two different first-person narratives: Ethan and Lena. Ethan's experiences are more ethereal, with the narration more introspective. Back in the world of the living, Lena is left to deal with the anger and sadness of Link, Amma, Uncle Macon, John Breed, Liv and even Ridley. Their pain tends to overwhelm, perhaps override, Lena's feelings of loss and her side of the story. And, in her desperation to bring Ethan back, some of her actions come across as foolishly selfish. But, to be fair, any girl would make a deal with the devil to bring back someone like Ethan.Ethan learns there is a way back to the other side, but it is dangerous, potentially destructive, as he needs to destroy a page of the Caster Chronicles. To him it is a no-brainer, he's already dead, "what more can happen to me?" But he needs help from the living and using a clever plot device, he leaves clues for Amma and Lena in the newspaper's daily crossword puzzle that Amma loves. Gathering friends and Lena's entire family together to assist her is not easy, but as Uncle Macon points out "we owe this to Ethan". Everyone is called upon to use their own power, or talent, as in one scene, Link, being only one-quarter incubus and therefore underestimated as much of a threat to the Dark world, saves the day with a well-hidden pair of shears.Ethan's final confrontation with the Angelus, the Council Keeper of the Caster Chronicles is almost uneventful. Most readers know how this story will, and should, end. Parts will be very painful, but not surprising. That is probably the one drawback of this book: we know the ending. So the story becomes more focused on the characters' journey and tying up loose ends from the previous books. And their feelings. Understandably, this book is more angst-ridden than the others; confronting the aspect of death the emotions more raw and painful. But the same sense of humor is there as when Ethan acknowleges his dead self to Angelus: "In the flesh. Or not."It's a wonderful series. There are some truly magical and tear-jerking moments, even if it is as simple as Ethan eating fried green tomatoes with his mom or the first time he visits Lena as ghost. There are laugh out loud moments and some heart-wrenching sacrifices. At times, the reader will want to smack Ridley or kick Link for even looking at her. But, as the title implies, this book is about redemption: of the world order, the nature of the characters, and true love.

    I'm sad now... [SPOILERS]

*by S***N on Reviewed in the United Kingdom 🇬🇧 on March 27, 2013*

Ok, let me get this out of the way now. I'm sad BECAUSE IT'S OVER, but because I didn't enjoy it!If you've read the third book, Beautiful Chaos, you should know that Ethan recently jumped off the water tower because he was the One Who Is Two, and shook that. You might be wondering, where can the story go now?Well, Beautiful Redemption begins with Ethan being IN the Otherworld, in the same place his Mother, the Greats and his Aunt Prue went after dying. He can go to the world where Lena and his family are, but they can't see him. He is a Sheer, as explained in previous books. Long story short, he figures out a way to get back to the mortal world, as a living being again. Of course, he needs to, for Lena. He needs items from Lena herself, so discovers a way to communicate with her.Part two of Beautiful Redemption ventures into Lena's point of view, especially for a Power where she is attempting to retrieve an item from Abraham Ravenwood.John Breed has a fairly big part in the book, as a hybrid Incubus.Part three is back to Ethan's point of view, as the final stages of getting reinstated into the mortal world take place. Don't get me wrong, it's not as simple as it sounds. There's things with Sarafine, Angleus, and the Caster Chronicles involved that keep putting twists and turns in.Overall, amazing book, and regional with the price, rating and popularity!
