Works great of course. **Q: Looking for best knife to cut smoked ribs (is this a good one for that, others?)** A: This is the best knife for the price I have ever come upon. It has a very thin blade but cuts anything. Cutting ribs will be no problem. **Q: does it need frequnt sharpening** A: I really can't say. I sharpen all my knives between cooks. When I use it, I usually slice anywhere between 2 and 6 briskets and lots of ribs. And when I'm done, it's sharp enough to slice lots of sausage as well. It will have a few knicks in it after I'm done, so I always sharpen it. I'm pretty rough with it though, so your mileage may vary. **Q: Is the Victorinox Fibrox Granton Edge 10.25 inch Slicing/Carving Knife equivalent quality? 12 inch seems like a machete for huge cuts of meat** A: It somewhat depends on what size of meat you are cutting. I do a lot of big briskets, so the 12" is nice to have.
